Dynamic drafting

Dynamic drafting

"Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I will learn"  Benjamin Franklin

I always enjoyed attending drafting courses.  They were easy - because I knew all the techniques.  But why did I never apply them?

Course summary

This interactive workshop, delivered remotely or in person explores why we don't absorb the carefully tailored tips and techniques learned in CPD training sessions and proposes a different approach to drafting.

We will use a uniquely tailored factual matrix, aimed at mirroring your teams areas of experience andexpertise.   We will use dynamic drafting exercises, and then apply IT tools to analyse the work produced.  We will then explore how to improve the live drafts, using small group facilitated discussion, one to one and plenary feedback.  The workshop aims to help your lawyers:

  • Reinforce the association between legal writing and the already known rules of grammar, sentence construction and clear English writing,
  • Think in a more commercial, client-centric way when drafting
  • Adapt their drafting styles to better align with clients needs
  • Understand what constitutes good or poor drafting
  • Simplify and streamline written product for clarity and precision
  • Adopt a “house style” approach to the creation of legal product
  • Evaluate how they approach the preparation of legal documents
  • Hone skills which they already possess, but apply inconsistently
