Interlocutory Advocacy

An interactive workshop built on NITA techniques

Help junior advocates develop presentation skills and acquire key techniques required for interlocutory advocacy,  by practising advocacy in the context of a contested application. 

Course summary

A workshop built on the tried and tested techniques developed by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA), employing a learning-by-doing approach in the form of a cycle of theory - demonstration - practice - feedback – review. 

Includes examination of:
  • the rules of advocacy  
  • court etiquette
  • the mechanics of  building your case and anticipating that of your opponent
Participants will practise their advocacy skills in the context of a commercial litigation dispute, in a series of contested applications. Video recording and both plenary and one-to-one feedback complete the learning experience.
