Course summary

While drafting from model documents has its own challenges, for young lawyers needing to draft from scratch, a blank page can be a frightening place.  In this modular course we will refresh our English grammar and sentence construction  (a useful reminder native as well as non-native writers) and look at helpful structures for clearer, more impactful letters, memoranda, reports and court documents.

We will examine the basic rules of drafting, including the canons of construction, as well as guidance on the use of plain English to promote clarity and conciseness, avoiding ambiguity and confusion.
